Newcastle United
As a lifelong supporter, I have been lucky enough to work on numerous projects for the club over the years. A few years ago I researched, wrote and designed the entire 3rd floor of Saint James’ Park Stadium. Below are just some parts of the scheme, featuring huge floor-to-ceiling graphics that tell the club’s story.
Many years earlier, I had a great idea while driving to work. The recently extended James’ Park, affectionately known as the Cathedral on the Hill, now dominated the skyline, along with the city’s many churches.
The idea was turned into this award-winning TV ad, directed by my good
friend Ian Single and produced by fellow Geordie and Newcastle fan Simon Mallinson.
Recently, just for fun, I redesigned the club crest, with simplified complexity for kit and merchandise. Featuring not one Magpie (sorrow) but two (Joy).
Which seemed to be very effective, because not long after NUFC won its first domestic trophy in 70 years!
